All About Mosquito Ministry

Welcome to Mosquito Ministry, a non-profit organization dedicated to stopping malaria.

We have one  goal:  Save people’s lives.

We have one mission:  Ship nets to the people who are at risk of getting malaria and zika.

We are single-minded: Every penny of every dollar donated goes directly to life-saving mosquito nets.

Thank you for visiting. We need your help.

All across third world countries, children are dying of malaria, one of the deadliest diseases on the planet.  This disease can be prevented, however. A simple net with insect repellent which people sleep under, can ensure that a child survives the night. While the World Health Organization and many African governments have recommended that individuals use mosquito netting to protect themselves, these nets cost money: money which many people don’t have.

This is where you can help

A net for two people typically costs $2 and lasts 3-4 years. A whole family can be protected for as little as $4. You truly can be part of the solution.  If you choose to donate, we won’t keep a cent. Your money will go where it counts. Our primary method of distributing nets involves partnering with the U.K based organization Against Malaria. This ensures the nets are properly distributed and that the effect of your donation is maximized. While there is now a vaccine, this doesn’t eliminate the need for netting. Not only are nets extremely cheap, but they have the highest efficacy rates, ensuring that individuals are not bitten in the first place.

Given this, we hope you will consider giving. Your donation is truly life-changing.

A History of Service

We started Mosquito Ministry in 2016.  Here is our the first video we created in 2016 to show at our school to explain how Mosquito Ministry works.  We were a lot younger than we are now!

GREAT NEWS!!!  In May 2016 the Skokie School and the Skokie Service Club sponsored a 5K run and donated 50% of the proceeds to Mosquito Ministry and 50% to Live Like Leah.  This amounted to a $1,644 contribution for each group.  This contribution really helps reach the goal of saving 5,000 lives.                                                                                                 ( 5/2016)

AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!!  In November 2016  the Skokie School again organized and  sponsored a  5K with half of the proceeds benefitting Mosquito Ministry.  We are so happy!  The 5K earned $1,293 for buying nets and saving lives.   We are well on our way now to the goal of saving 5,000 children.                                                                                                     (11/2016)

OUR THIRD MARATHON TOOK OFF!!!  In October 2020 Mosquito Ministry organized its first virtual 5K. The 5K was a total success and we would like to thank all of the runners and volunteers who made the event happen.

TURKEYS TROT ON!!! In November 2021 Mosquito Ministry hosted its fourth 5K and its second virtual marathon.  Runners took off on Thanksgiving using Nike Run Club to track their kilometers.

Thank you to the students, friends and families at Skokie School.  YOU DID IT!!!
